Week 3

This week we decided to work all together as a team of Mathemagicians! We began by using magnetic numbers to make our own numberline and discussed the sequence up to 20. We then used wipe boards and pens to practice writing numerals and discussed the correct formation of each numeral. We proudly showed our parents how clever we are at ordering numbers and worked with them to practice our number formation. Then the fun began. We decided to make a whole group number line up to 20 and together we designed some bunting to display in our classroom. We used a colour and shape theme and made a repeating pattern with both. Our mums helped to cut out circles, triangles, rectangles and squares using coloured card. Each person had their own colour to make the 4 different shapes. We then worked together designing the bunting and identified the correct colour and shape that was needed each time. We carefully wrote the numerals onto the shapes and remembered to use the correct formation each time. It looked fantastic and we were very proud of the end result. What super Mathemagicians these boys and girls are, oh and their mums too !
