Overview of English Curriculum

Visit The Storybarn website to book tickets and enter the magical world of imagination…: www.thestorybarn.org.uk

The Storybarn is an interactive story-centre for young people to explore, share and discover their love of books. A thrilling world of imagination where children can embark on a literary adventure, The Storybarn features live-reading from our story-sharers, crafts and a giant slide!

The reading magic continues beyond the doors of the Storybarn, as families can  purchase the latest and greatest of stories from the children’s bookshop whilst also being able to pick up interactive maps which will help them to explore the surrounding park, bringing shared reading experiences out into the world.

Spaces will also be available to hire for celebrations whilst hosting ongoing events and festivals from The Reader.

The Storybarn is open Tuesdays-Sundays over school term-time (Tuesdays/Thursdays – 1pm-5pm; Wednesdays, Fridays-Sundays – 10am-5pm), and every day during school holidays (10am-5pm).

Reading Quality Mark GOLD award.

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have been working towards attaining the Reading Quality Mark award and were assessed on

17th November 2015 as attaining the GOLD category.

In partnership with the National Literacy Trust, the Liverpool Reading Quality Mark has been developed to focus on promoting reading for enjoyment.

The school was assessed by a member of the local authority, who spent the day looking around our school, speaking to the Head Teacher and senior leaders, as well as groups of children and our pupil reading ambassadors. School's can attain bronze, silver or gold, so we are delighted to be awarded the highest grade possible.

The project has been led by Mrs O'Neill, our school's lead for Reading/ Literacy and a huge amount of work has gone into developing a love of reading for our children and adults in the school community.

We are very proud of all involved! Find out more here:

On Friday 15th January 2016, a group of children went with Mrs Raley-Williams and Mrs Oneill to the beautiful Liverpool Central Library to receive our hard earned Reading Quality Mark (Gold Level).  The children were a credit to the school and their parents. They all enjoyed the ceremony and after the ceremony we had time to explore the library for ourselves and we all agreed that the Central library is such a fun place.

Mighty Red from LFC came to visit the children taking part in our Premier League Reading Stars. He worked closely with the children during the morning helping them with their reading activities.
