Week 1

We began our new workshop for a group of our Reception boys and girls who like to work with numbers and shapes and we call them our Mathemagicians ! As the robot making was very popular in our last workshop, I decided to repeat the activity and see what ideas this group would come up with. They didn’t let me down and used their creativity skills well. We had a fun session using a variety of 3D shapes and discussing them and working out how we could join them together. The children all got to work with their mums to support them and together they made the most amazing models. We had a Princess theme for the girls which influenced the boys in their designs and they made a guard and a King to compliment the theme. They used a variety of materials, colours and shapes and confidently cut out shapes with the scissors. They used the resources to decorate and even designed their own repeating patterns. The children were very proud of their creations, as were their parents. They took it in turns to show them to the group and confidently identified the shapes they had used. Well done boys and girls!
